Scrap Freeman doesn’t really know what to do with his life outside of drag-racing along Thunder Road. He he feels stifled by his small-town existence. Since his parents died, he has been living with Uncle Max, a junkyard owner concerned about his nephew’s lack of direction. But Scrap can’t seem to communicate with his uncle. Of course, Scrap’s life suddenly becomes interesting when 21, a giant robot from the future, shows up, looking for a Dr. Kline. Scrap pretends to be Kline and, along with 21, gets sucked through an energy gateway to the robot’s time.
